Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking a reliable and motivated Installations Lead to join our Installations Department. Being on time, hardworking, safety-focused, and willing to take initiative are essential qualities for success in this role.
The Installations Lead works under the Installations Foreman to help oversee and coordinate the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of related HVAC equipment. The primary function of the Installations Lead is to supervise, train, and coach the Installations Technicians and Field Laborers on jobsites with a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.
Job Functions
- Able to perform Installer Level 1, Installer Level 2 job functions with no supervision
- Able to install slim duct, condensate drain lines with proper slope and bracing, control wire, refrigeration piping, and line-sets to include proper flaring of fittings.
- Able to lead residential HVAC projects from start to finish. This includes new construction and ducted system projects with little to no guidance
- Understands and can identify common pipe fittings, materials, and the different types of residential HVAC equipment typically installed (one-way cassettes, wall mounted indoor units, condensers, exhaust fans, etc..)
- Able to properly mount indoor/evaporator units, place/mount condensers, install thermostats, insulate refrigerant and condensate piping, and charge HVAC systems
- Able to perform ductwork takeoffs, projects planning, and parts/material requests completing all forms with accuracy.
- Able to perform system startup for any project and complete all required startup paperwork following the startup process.
- Understands project timelines, scope of work, and is able to read/scale blueprints.
- Assists in project documentation to include as-built drawings.
- Ensure proper project documentation to include progress reporting and form completion in Service Titan daily.
- Ability to lay out a project and keep a crew productive to meet project timelines.
- Able to braze/solder and pressure test systems with nitrogen to identify potential leaks.
- Basic understanding of refrigerant pressures, and to perform system evacuations to include pumping down systems, and pressure testing with supervision.
- Demonstrates the ability to guide, mentor, train, and hold accountable installers and laborers on moderately complex tasks, reinforcing company procedures and fostering skill development.
- Make intermediate-level decisions related to task execution and project adjustment, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
- Confidently engage with general contractors, owners, and other stakeholders to represent the company’s interests and maintain positive relationships.
- Monitor team compliance with safety standards, addressing unsafe practices and promoting a safe work environment.
- Develop team collaboration by providing constructive feedback, supporting skill development, and fostering a positive work environment through clear communication and mentorship.
